BLOOD ON HIS HANDS

Books & Comics Selfie Project #4

INSOMNIA CAFE by M.K. Perker

"Who said that reading novels and writing about them must be boring?"

Peter Kolinsky's favorite place for an evening out is Insomnia Cafe run by an amazing bar tender Angela. Suffering from sleeping disorders, he finds her presence somewhat soothing.

When Angela feels she can trust Peter, she takes him to the Archives - a secret and most fascinating library on the planet where books being now written by the world's most famous authors are available for reading. However, when the writers put their pen down, the books disappear from the Archives' shelves.

Peter gets confused and steals one of the books. Soon he learns there is a heavy price to pay for breaking the rules of this unusual place.

"Insomnia Cafe" is a grasping comics novel created by an acclaimed Turkish illustrator living in New York - M.K. Perker. Published by Dark Horse Books, it is eerie and will keep surprising you till the last page.

Celebrity Gossip

Polka's iconic portrait of Lana Del Rey with humming birds has a chance to be the singer's next album cover

Polka is an illustrator who transfers her work into different media, making it accessible by the general public through product design and graffiti. This time she created an iconic image with humming birds looking for pollen in Lana's hair emerging delicately from the background, adding an element of surprising beauty and sweetness to this wonderful portrait.

Lana Del Rey made her claim for fame almost 2 years ago with her 'Videogames' single and became an inspirational music and fashion icon bringing in a bit of vintage nostalgia with her. I'm looking forward to seeing Polka's impressive work on her next album's cover!

Pixels' Secret Life

Laura Bifano's pixel watercolours have already appeared at Blog's Art, but I have spotted more of her amazing pictures recently. This young girl's style is truly impressive. The way the natural life interacts with the pixelated figures is just mesmerizing. Thank you, Laura, for inviting us into your beautiful fantasy.

Female graffiti artist hits the streets of Europe

Grafiiti Alice Pasquini

Alice Pasquini is a busy Rome-based graffiti artist, truly dedicated to her projects. She has lived in France, Spain and the UK and brought her beautiful art to the streets of those countries. Her portfolio is impressive and also includes sketches and illustrations. It is even difficult to imagine how she could produce such an incredible amount of work. Pasquini's graffiti is a ture celebration of art in all its glory, passion and selflessness. There is a nostalgia and delicacy in her colourful images. It looks as if streets are pages from a book Alice puts her work on. She is an illustrator who decorates the world. I am impressed and humbled and am looking forward to her getting big commissions for graffiti projects in the world's capitals.
.
I have chosen a few excamples of her work, but there is so much more on her website.

One-Eyed Dog

Threadless Submission

Guys, please, vote on my T-shirt on Threadless by clicking here:
.
Green Dog - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More
.
If people don't show acceptance for this marvelous one-eyed design in a few days, it will be rejected and thrown away. I fear it might happen because of Christmass time and few people voting. However I don't want to use you, either. So feel free to vote or not. I will be truly grateful for every single person clicking "I like it". And every single person liking it as well.
.
I feel particularly connected to this project, as it shows my dog from my childhood, but in green and with one eye. I really loved my dog, however I was a cruel and often thoughtless child and I feel sorry for this. I would love my dog back, but she is gone. However I might have dogs in the future. I'm thinking of becoming a loving dog couch and repenting for bad actions from the past.

Butterfly Emerging From Chaos

Illustrations

Stina Persson is not my sister. She is a Swedish illustrator.
I love the way she joins casual watercolours' energy and its' random composition with detailed hand drawing and precisely but naturally outlined elements. It looks like a beautiful image comming out of chaos, a butterfly emerging from a stain of paint or ink. Perfect execution of a design. It seems simple, but is very difficult to achieve.

Stina worked for renown clients such as Absolut Vodka, Blue Note Records or DKNY. She is most deffinitely some kind of an artistic excample for me to follow, like an older sister. More at www.stinapersson.com.
