Pirelli is a tire producer known for releasing annual calendars presenting female nudes. This year brings in a change of approach and a perspective so different I would almost call it a revolution. Ladies get to keep their clothes on! Steve McCurry is the man behind the lenses and a photographer responsible for a refreshingly different series of images. They are all shot in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Every model appearing in this year's calendar runs her own charity.

"You can photograph nudes anywhere," says McCurry. "But these models are purposeful and idealistic people. I wanted to photograph them in a special place."

McCurry made his name documenting Afghanistan in the early 1980s, having smuggled himself into the country by growing a beard and wearing traditional clothes.

Star Wars Robots - Celebrity gossip

AT-AT robot, commonly known as Atilla, first appeared in Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back Episode in 1980. After many years of being a villain
it now decides to step back and enjoy life.

Atilla was a gigantic dog-like walker which transported weapons. Despite of its friendly look it was unfortunately bad and dangerous. Released as toys by several companies between 1980 and 1985 AT-ATs became the part of Empire Strikes Back's line and soon were very popular among kids and collectors. They also appeared in Star Wars video game in mid 90s.

Recently Atilla has been spotted by a photographer Nick Drummond. After many years of being a villain and the whole era in the film industry the robot has obviously decided to change its approach. Drummond reports that it now plays with cats, surfs, meditates and on the whole steps back to enjoy the world's beauty after all the time of evil. 

'I've been inspired with the Dalailama and Jesus' teachin and decided it's time to change my heart. I don't want to be bad any more. Actually I really like the smell of flowers!' - said Atilla.

What a transformation! After all AT AT deserves a bit of a chill!

Zena Holloway is a UK-based underwater fashion photographer and director. She started her career as a professional diver. In 1997 she made her first commercial shot for Faberge. Since then she has worked for a range of big names including Westfield, Sony, Elle, Nike and others. Zena uses the weightlessness of a human body and fabrics under water which makes her models look like fantastic fairies, mysterious goddesses. They become a part of a magical world with no gravity. Wellcome Trust is a global foundation dedicated to improving human and animal health. It embeds biomedical science in the historical and cultural landscape. Recently the organisation got involved with a lot of art and cultural projects and opened its digital archives to the public view. They can be used for design-related purposes through Creative Commons licence. This way Wellcome Images - an online bank of photographs has been created. Wellcome Images are connected with biomedicine and the history of science with many entertaining bits such as 19th century newspaper ads promoting bizzare gym equipment. The most beautiful photos are those made with the use of an electron microscope. They look like works of art and make me realize that I don't even know how my body works let along nature's other secrets.

Wellcome Images work like Shutterstock or Getty Images. Unlike them, however, a large part of Wellcome archives can be used for free for non-commercial purposes. Some of the photos covering dissected models or cancer cells are a bit disturbing. But the purpose of the Wellcome Trust is to help those who are not well and document the development of medicine in the cultural and social context.

Healing Power Of Fantasy

Kirsty Mitchell lost her mother to brain cancer in 2008. The 'Wonderland' photo series has been a way to deal with the sorrow. All costumes, wigs and sets were constructed on a shoestring budget. Kirsty would often wait an entire year to find the perfect natural setting for her shots. Her photographic series began as a small summer project which challenged her grief and turned into passion. Her mother Maureen was an English teacher who spent her life inspiring generations of children with imaginative stories and plays. Kirsty's work has been greatly appreciated by an international audience with the recent articles in the Daily Mail and on BBC websites. Her exhibition has become a part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee's celebrations in London.

3000 Camera-Flowers

This impressive field of tiny turquoise forget-me-not cameras has been created by Andre Feliciano - Brazilian artist recently comissioned by the United Photo Industries. His first installation presented to the American art lovers features over 3000 minature camera-flowers emerging from among leaves of grass. Andre has become familiar to the world's audience only just recently, but his Brazilian career path has been long and breath-taking. He had his exhibitions at Sao Paulo Museum of Modern Art (MAM), the Tomie Ohtake Institute and Sao Paulo’s Geothe Institute. Personally I find him one of the greatest modern art talents who may become as big as Christo and Jeanne-Claude or Yayoi Kusama if he keeps his mind and projects fresh. Good luck, Andre! Blue Bears are hand-made sad toy mascots by a Polish artist Paulina Korbaczyńska. Just like Nick Drummond's AT-AT robot, Blue Bears appear in every day situations. They seem to have their personality and private life. They are a bit melancholic. They read newspapers, play games, do the laundry, travel and socialize. They seem to be very thoughtful. They are very close to my heart.

W zdjęciach Edyty podoba mi się ich LaChapellowski klimat. Jest w nich jakiś specyficzny dowcip i kreacja. Tworzą świat, jak z niepokojącej bajki. Przyciągają uwagę.

Oglądam dużo zdjęć i sztuki jako takiej. Organizowałam wystawę fotografii w ramach Slot Art Festivalu i zajmowałam się selekcją zgłoszeń. Wielu młodych ludzi robi dobre zdjęcia. Bardzo wzrósł poziom młodej fotografowii w Polsce dzięki dostępnej technologii cyfrowej i programom graficznym, a także dużej pewności siebie autorów i ich wielkiemu talentowi oraz wierze w siebie, która sprawia, że posuwają się mocno naprzód. Jednak czasem trudno wymienić spośród nich kogoś o wyjątkowym, odmiennym spojrzeniu. U Edyty widać zabawę, kreację, ogromne opanowanie techniczne, przenikające do jej zdjęć elementy jej świata, wyobraźni i wrażliwości. I to moim zdaniem jest ciekawe i bardzo wartościowe. Ta dziewczyna mną subtelnie potrząsnęła.
